Fitterij 2026
The Fitterij 2026 was once again a great success. We had a total of 32 participants across 16 teams took part in the Fitterij and Kraantje Drukken on 29th May 2026. After a series of rounds, Daniel Bouman and Itse Veltmeijer emerged as the winners of Fitterij 2026. Congratulations on the victory!
The event concluded with a barbecue, offering participants, volunteers, and professionals an opportunity to relax and celebrate a successful day together.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the volunteers from Brabant Water N.V. and Vitens, whose support was invaluable throughout the event. We also thank our partner water companies Koninklijk Nederlands Waternetwerk, Brabant Water N.V. , Evides Waterbedrijf, Vitens, Waterbedrijf Groningen, and Waternet for their continued support.
A special thank you goes to our sponsors Isiflo and Conval Nederland bv, whose contributions made this event possible.
Symposium 2026 - Building an Utopia
The annual Symposium “Building a Utopia” brought students and experts together to explore how cities can become more sustainable, climate-adaptive, and future-proof. The programme featured talks on utopian thinking, Bubble Barrier technology, water-sensitive urban design, and the Urban Heat Island effect.
Students also took part in a hands-on LEGO workshop, designing model cities and using heat lamps and IR cameras to explore how different urban designs influence thermal behaviour. The day concluded with a borrel, giving students and speakers an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.
A huge thanks to the speakers, Thierry Langeweg (Medeina Engineering and HAEDES), Koen Tijhuis (The Great Bubble Barrier), Stef Janssen and Arjan Droste for their valuable contributions and insightful discussions.
Environmental Career Fair 2026
On April 23, we hosted the first edition of the Environmental Career Fair! We were very excited to welcome 13 organizations from the environmental sector to connect with students and young professionals, sharing their experiences, projects, and career opportunities.
During the fair, we welcomed over 160 visitors, ranging from first-year students exploring the sector to graduates searching for thesis projects or their first job opportunity. We greatly appreciated the opening remarks by Lindsey Schwidder from The Green Village.
We would like to sincerely thank all participating companies, APPM, Arcadis, Acacia Water Nederland, TU Delft Climate Action Programme, DEME Environmental NL, Evides Waterbedrijf, HKV lijn in water, Haskoning, Jelmer, Nationaal Water- en Bodemtraineeship, Sweco and The Green Village for making this first edition a success!
Master Business Event 2023
On the 1st of March we had the opportunity to welcome 6 of our partner companies. Our members were able to listen to their company presentations and get acquainted with the opportunities and the work ethic of each company. We are sure it was a very valuable afternoon for our members. Therefore, we would like to express our appreciation to the guest companies: Evides Waterbedrijf, Paques, Witteveen+Bos, HKV lijn in water, Royal HaskoningDHV, and Deltares.
Thank you to the speakers and to our PR committee for making the event a great success!
For the Dispuut’s International Business and Education Trip of 2022, a group of 19 students in Water Management and Environmental Engineering and professors Thom Bogaard, Erik Mostert, and Kim Lompe traveled to Chile to learn about the water-related issues and gain new perspectives on global and local challenges. The group traveled from the center of the country to the north, exploring a broad range of landscapes. Highlights included snowball fights while stuck in traffic in the mountains above Santiago, exploring Valparaiso with Biochemistry students from a local univeristy, learning about water distribution and drought in a symposium and case day in La Serena, hiking and stargazing in the Atacama desert.
The Fitterij event 2022 has been a great success! After two long years of break due to COVID-19, the wettest competition in civil engineering was finally back. During this day, 20 couples of students and pHDers battled hard in the two legendary games: Fitterijwetstrijd and Kraantje Drukken.
Despite the pouring rain, the energy has been over the top for the whole day: from the hard plumbing work to the crazy drinks and barbecue with the final DJset!
Many thanks are due to the incredible people from the water companies that guided us into this amazing activity (especially Ger!), to our sponsors, to all the participants and volunteers that helped throughout the day but most of all to the Fitterij Committee 2022!
Do you think you can do better? Stay tuned for Fitterij 2023!
