This is what you can expect as a Junior advisor/researcher operational water management:
We are looking for a junior to join our team in the field of operational water management (rivers/coast/lakes). Your goal is to develop top knowledge in the field of early warning for flood decision support and integration of data and models into real-time information systems.
You will make frequent use of the Delft-FEWS software package developed by us. FEWS collects meteorological data, controls hydrological simulations and provides forecasts regarding the state of the water system. As a junior consultant/researcher, you will work on the configuration and expansion of systems for making hydrological forecasts. Your main tasks are:
- You configure forecasting systems and work on improving the water-related forecasts we make.
- You advise governments such as Rijkswaterstaat or a water board on the management, configuration and further development of a specific forecasting system for a river or coastal area;
- You will work with a team of colleagues and a high degree of interaction with mainly national but also international customers. You visit customers to discuss issues with clients and work as a team on solutions.
- You contribute to the development of new knowledge and work on innovative applications of this knowledge in real-time information and forecasting.
- You think and write along in proposals and advice and like to help develop new knowledge; in particular for improving water management in the Netherlands and the models that are used for this.
