Effects of a modelled thick overburden on groundwater flow

Description:
In Modflow, the groundwater level is calculated between the middle of the model cells. With a thick first model layer, this may give an underestimation of the resistance towards ground level. This internship investigates the effect of this method of schematization on the calculated groundwater levels and discharge to watercourses, while also exploring possible alternative schematization methods.
